Revamping Current Systems
2026 has been the year of less, with less buying and consuming. If you are new, you can look back through the blog posts of past newsletters for inspiration.
Last month we were going to finish up projects around the house and get rid of ones we just know we will never get to. How’d you do? I struggle with my garage, because it is half car park and half Home Elevated war zone, I mean WORK zone. Donations are dropped there first, resorted by where they are going (I donate client items to over 20 non-profits/rescues and organizations) so it is a continual rotation. I was able to repurpose lots of things I already had, and that was nice. And I am no different than you, my own spaces overwhelm me at times. I made the decision to invest in the right containers and boy howdy did that make the difference. The Container Store has regular sales, and these were just perfect.

Even an organizer gets disoraganized! I even added art on my cabinet doors and refer. Why not? I have so much of it. I need to keep my work table and you can see its covered it work stuff, but overall SO MUCH BETTER. I can find things, and I purged a lot of unnecessary stuff, and that felt fantastic!
For September, let’s look at systems. We create them and over time, we may need to tweak or change them.

Decluttering and Organizing:
Take a quick stroll through your house. Do you see areas where systems are no longer working? Are there places where clutter keeps accumulating? To keep order in our homes, we have to organize and create system for how we live now, not how we used to live.
Organize for how you live NOW, not how you used to live. It changes every few years and if you don’t believe me, clean out a closet!
Home Edits:
Sometimes a room isn’t “wrong” it just outgrows the way you were using it. Last week I took photos of some spaces that I am tired of. I uploaded them to ChatGPT and said help me reset these, you can use the elements I have and add to them. I was AMAZED at the simple tweaks it made, a few additions, and those spaces look amazing now! AI can often give you just the spark you need to make a change, don’t be afraid to try it. And I did edit some pieces out, and added some new pieces, but overall, it was mostly what I had. I just shopped my house!
Short Term Rentals:
Guest expectations and travel habits change too. If you have a vacation rental, what worked three years ago might not work today! It’s a good idea to get fresh eyes. I recently sent some family to stay at our place. I asked the wife to take a keen look. What’s being missed by the cleaners, what’s looking worn, or tired. What are we missing? The list was short but helped me make the space the very best it can be!
