Decluttering and Organizing:

This month’s topic quick: Summer is here, keep things easy. Focus on simplicity. July is often the month of summer vacations, kids camps, weddings and family gatherings. It’s just busy, so keep it simple.

Summer clothes get worn the least, so notice the ones you don’t wear, fit funny, itch and you just don’t love go into the donation bin, along with any shoes in the same category. It’s a great time to declutter personal care and make up items, check expiration dates, toss things you don’t use, or just don’t like.

It can be a great time to declutter things you don’t always think about. While the weather is good, it’s a great time to defrost and clean out your freezer(s), the trunk or hatch of your car, your patio and deck.

Whatever you do, take some time to enjoy the sunshine!

Home Edits:

A quick update for your outdoors can be filling some pots with flowers. Most of us have flowerpots or flowerboxes around, grab some pretty plants at the store, fill your pots with empty water bottles or opened soda cans to fill them up and not need so much soil. Flowering plants or colorful grasses really cheer up a space and welcome both you and your guests with a little extra joy. Silk flowers have gotten so realistic, don’t be afraid to go faux if you like them!

Short Term Rentals:

Keeping guests cool in hot weather is key. Even IF you have AC at your property. Small summertime additions go a long way. Fans in the bedroom, even smaller tabletop models, and be sure to look for lower noise ones. Blackout curtains not only allow guests to sleep in but also keep the heat down. Have you considered adding a countertop ice maker to your kitchen? This is a very appreciated addition, especially if you have a freezer without an ice maker, and even if you do, it gives them more ice to use in their coolers. Have a big pitcher of cold lemon water waiting in the refrigerator when they arrive and even consider small things like chillable eye masks as part of their welcome gift. You can buy them in bulk on Amazon.
